This workshop will require a small amount of hiking but nothing too strenuous.
This Landscape Workshop offers you an exciting opportunity to spend 3 nights / 4 days in one of South Africa’s unique sites in the Central Berg region of the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park, which is now a World Heritage Site. Only about a 5-hour drive from Johannesburg and only 2.5-hours from Durban, Giant's Castle camp is situated on a gassy plateau among the deep valleys, a stunning mountain paradise bathed in scenic beauty with rivers, streams, waterfalls, grasslands and craggy cliffs making it scenic, landscape and night sky photography paradise.
Giant's Castle camp is situated on a grassy plateau among the deep valleys running down from the face of the High Drakensberg, offering glorious photographic opportunities in the area. You will also have the opportunity to spend time photographing the Bearded vulture (Lammergeyer) and other raptures from the confines of a photography hide. Also, Eland antelope, Chacma baboons, Mountain Reedbuck and the rare caracal are occasionally spotted.

Weather conditions play a huge roll in the actual day-to-day activities schedules, we wait until we know what the weather is going to do and then decide on the next day's itinerary.
Most of the photographic coaching will be done in the field where Rory will be looking over your shoulders and shooting with you to guide you all the way. Early morning and evenings in the field will include coffee and rusks with adequate water available during the daytime excursion in the field.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be at the Giants Castle main dining area. If we are out for an early sunrise or night photography arrangements will be made to compensate with a snack or meal in the field.
