This photographic safari offers an intimate experience of Africa's best, from African elephants to exciting close encounters with birds and wild game at modern photography hides. We will visit the Zimanga Private Game Reserve and will be hosted by your photographic guides Rory Baker and Alan Nixon and is limited to 6 guests, with maximum 3 guests per guide.

Zimanga is spread over 6,000 hectares of bushveld and boasts some of the best hides in Africa, it is designed specifically to satisfy the expectations of today's serious wildlife photography.

In addition to the hides we will also do photographic safari drives with the hope of coming across lions, leopard, elephants, cheetah and a myriad of other birds and animals. The highlight of this photographic safari, other than the hides, will be a close up encounter with the highly endangered African Painted Dogs aka: African Wild Dog!

Rory and Alan look forward to guiding you, together with local guides and Rangers, and capturing magnificent images and memories of your photo safari. My Photo Safari provides free WiFi connectivity at destinations providing there is reception.

KwaZulu-Natal (kwa zu lu na ta l) is also referred to as KZN and known as "the garden province", is a province of South Africa that was created in 1994 when the Zulu Bantustan of KwaZulu ("Place of the Zulu" in Zulu) and Natal Province were merged. It is located in the southeast?? of the country, enjoying a long shoreline beside the Indian Ocean and sharing borders with three other provinces and the countries of Mozambique, Swaziland and Lesotho. Its capital is Pietermaritzburg and its largest city is Durban. It is the 2nd most populous province in South Africa.

Day 1: Departing Durban

Depart Durban / King Shaka Airport to arrive at Zimanga Private Game reserve in Northern KwaZulu-Natal abot 12:00pm. AAfter settling in at the Doornhoek luxury lodge we will have a light welcome snack and a short presentation / introduction what will be done over the coming days. This will be followed with the first open game drive and/or hide session. Weather conditions play a huge roll in the actual day-to-day activities schedules, we wait until we know what the weather is going to do and then decide on the next day's hide and or game drive activity.

Day 2 ~6: Zimanga Private Reserve

Five days of photo safari drives and hide sessions on the Zimanga Private Reserve. Each guest will have the opportunity to spend two 16 hr sessions in one of the overnight hides that attracts large mammals (elephant, rhino, lion etc). Each guest will also have the opportunity to spend morning or afternoon sessions in the other bird hides to photograph some of the 400 bird species. Photo safari drives in open photography game drive vehicles will be in search of wild dogs, cheetah and lions amongst many other species on the reserve.

Depending on weather conditions we will have the opportunity to do sunrises, sunsets and astro- photography sessions. Time will also be allocated for selection and post processing of photos. Rory and Alan will assist with post processing tips and discussions on photography.

Day 5: Final Day back to Durban

A final early morning game drive at Zimanga, before checking out. The journey back to Durban commences around mid-day with a stop along the way for lunch and a final discussion. We will arrive back in Durban at approximately 4:00pm.
